Sage for Market Managers
Sage is the chat assistant in the footer of your admin pages. It has read this documentation, and it can look up live data from your market β every lookup scoped to your market, every answer read-only. Here is what it can do for you, with the questions managers actually ask it.
Two kinds of questions. "How do Iβ¦" questions are answered from these docs,
with a link to the page. "What's going on withβ¦" questions are answered from your market's
data as of the moment you ask. Every data lookup is recorded and reviewable.
Customers
- "Look up Carol Kraemer" β find a customer by name or email; when two accounts could match, Sage shows both by email.
- "Why is Carol's balance $23.75?" β the full ledger: credits, debits, order charges, and card top-ups. Long ledgers are capped at 25 entries; ask for a date range ("her account activity in 2025") to reach older ones.
- "What did Carol order last week?" β recent orders with line items.
- "Did I already adjust Helen's account today?"
- "Who were our first-time customers this month?"
- "Who signed up but never placed an order?"
- "Which new customers this year stopped after three orders or fewer?"
- "Which regulars haven't ordered since spring?" and "Who are our most frequent customers?"
- "Whose membership is due on their next order?" and "Who paid their membership last week?"
This week
- "How's this week's cycle looking?" β open orders, unpaid orders, totals by pickup location.
- "Which growers have sales this cycle?" β the top-selling products, each with its grower.
- "What does Fiddlehead Farm need to bring this week?" β any grower's harvest list.
- "Who ordered salad mix from Fiddlehead Farm last week?"
Sales and growers
- "What sold the most last month?" β orders, quantity, and sales per product, optionally within one category.
- "How did we do this quarter?" β sales totals for a period.
- "How is Fiddlehead Farm doing?" β a grower's listings, recent sales, and balance.
- "What is Fiddlehead Farm listing right now?"
Running the market
- "Who are our managers and volunteers?"
- "Did the newsletter reach everyone?" β delivery and bounce health for the market, or the history for one address.
- "What are our pickup times?" β Sage reads your own welcome text, FAQ, and ordering schedule. Anything you put in your market FAQ reaches it automatically, so that is the place to give Sage standing facts about your market.
- Any how-to β "Where do I put my Google Analytics ID?" "How do I re-run a declined card?" "Where is vacation mode?" Sage answers from the docs and links the page.
Opening Sage to your community
On your market admin page, the Sage Assistant section has two switches: one for growers, one for signed-in shoppers. Both start off. Each audience gets its own Sage that only sees its own data β see Sage for Growers and Sage for Shoppers for exactly what each can ask.
What Sage will never do
- Change anything. No orders placed, no emails sent, no settings touched, no balances adjusted. Ask for one of those and it tells you where in the app to do it.
- Cross a market boundary. Every lookup is scoped by who you are and where you are, never by what you type.
- Invent numbers. Capped lists say so; ask for a narrower date range to see the rest. If no lookup can answer, it says that instead of guessing.
If Sage gets something wrong, the source of truth is this documentation β tell support and the underlying page gets fixed.
