BRR!

Warm, hearty food season is here!

Be sure to check out all that our amazing produce vendors are harvesting right now! Get your onions and peppers as a base for flavorful soups and baked dishes. Erdmann Farms has green bells still available!

Flying S Farms has added Chinese Cross Chestnuts to their offerings. These are 50 50 American Chinese Cross Chestnuts from the woods. Enjoy raw or roasted, great in dressings or stuffings during the holidays (depending what region of the country your from!)…. Roasting chestnuts: in the oven is probably the most common method, and definitely the most flavorful.

E & B Coffee has all their roasts available and is a staple in our home. Erin just roasted some this past week and the Sumatra came out with wonderful flavors! Try some this week, you will likely be hooked on their coffee!

Benjamin’s Organic Sprouts has delicious, crisp broccoli and alfalfa sprouts listed. Add to soups, sandwiches, salads, stir fries or just out of the bag! Benjamin thanks you so much for your continued support of his efforts!

DELIVERY We are excited to announce a delivery option for pickup! We know we cannot choose a day that would work for everyone and hope this option helps!
There is a fee of $10 to cover all the necessaries to get your things to you with quality care and service! A square invoice will be emailed to you.
The delivery option is added as a product and can be found on the sidebar of “the market”. Add this to your cart to ensure delivery.

West Wind Farms and Wedge Oak are taking holiday turkey reservations and have different size options available. You place the order, pay the deposit with your normal pickup and that is subtracted from your total when the turkey arrives! FRESH and local for the holidays!

There’s abundance on our market right now! We hope you will take the time to browse some new things this week (or even old favorites you’ve been meaning to try).

Rainbow Hill has several varieties of apples! Don’t miss your chance to have these incredible, local, in-season apples while they last!

As always, we thank L & L Contractors for their hospitality and generosity in hosting our market! Please remember them in your contracting needs! They support us so please return the support to them!

See you Wednesday!

NEWS AND NOTES

Please remember pickup will be at our NEW LOCATION, at Manchester Farm Center, 251 Interstate Drive, Manchester. Look for us under the big tents to the left of the store.

Welcome to Flying S Farms from Woodbury. This week Ben & Catherine have added several breads, including Friendship, Pumpkin, and Sourdough, as well as brownies from their Licensed Commercial Kitchen; and also chicken eggs.

Solace Farm has added several cuts of Scottish Highland beef, which marbles well without grain feeding, making their meat leaner, more flavorful, and maintaining a healthier Omega 3 to Omega 6 ratio than conventionally raised cattle.

Loftus Family Farm has added some dried herbs and two types of basil seeds to the market.

Welcome back to Casey Family Farm after a long absence. Lois has listed a limited quantity of her Creamline Milk this week.

Frontier Family Farm has listed “Standard Winter Produce Boxes” and “Weekly Produce Boxes” under “CSA” on the market. They will include a share of what’s available each week on Michael’s farm, and will therefore vary in content from week to week. These boxes will be purchased on a weekly basis, rather than at the start of the season like some of our other CSA’s. They will be a good way to fill your frig and include vegetables in your diet each week. Please note that the “Standard Winter” box will contain a “bonus item” from another farm, which will also vary from week to week. Be sure to check these boxes each week to see what’s new.

Frontier Family Farm has also added broccoli this week.

Dogwood Valley Greenhouse would like to remind you to get your Ornamental Kale plants and baskets soon.

White City Produce & Greenhouses vegetables is taking a break from the market this week.

Please note that we now offer Delivery for a small fee to three locations: within Tullahoma City Limits, within Manchester City Limits, and elsewhere in Coffee County. We will be glad to deliver your order to you, at home or a location of your choice, on Friday afternoons.

Remember that we also have delicious pork and chicken cuts, organic free-range chicken and duck eggs, jams and jellies, live plants for your perennial border, porch, or patio. Please take note of our great selection of hand crafted farm products, candles, essential oils, and bath & beauty products. Stop by Square Books soon and see our market table, with lots of non-perishable farm products for sale. Pick up some jam or jelly, hand lotion or soap, herbal tea, or a candle to enjoy or to give as a gift.

(L to R) Wheat Blend Sourdough Bread and Awesome Brownies from Flying S Farms, Creamline Milk from Casey Family Farm, Coriander Seeds from Loftus Family Farm, Fall Planter from Dogwood Valley Greenhouse.

IMPORTANT ORDERING AND PICKUP INFORMATION

Ordering will be open until TUESDAY at 10 p.m., and your order will be available for pickup on THURSDAY between 4:00 and 5:30 at our tents located outside Manchester Farm Store, 251 Interstate Dr., Manchester. We can also deliver your order to your home on Friday, if it’s more convenient for you. If you prefer to utilize this service, please place an order for it, same as other products, designating your delivery location.

Thanks so much for your support of Manchester Locally Grown Market, and your friends and neighbors who have grown and produced these items. Please encourage our local farmers by helping to spread the word about our wonderful market to everyone you know. We offer a great variety of local farm products, and our items will be in your hands in time to plan for the weekend. Wonderful local products are available for ordering from the comfort of your own computer.

More new farmers are considering joining our market, if they can expect enough sales to help pay their transportation costs. Please help us grow the market by sharing this e-mail with your friends and inviting them to give us a try. And if you haven’t ordered from Manchester Locally Grown for a while, please check out our wide variety of offerings this week. Also please let us know if we can improve our selection or scheduling in any way to better suit your needs.

Blessings,

The Wednesday Market:  The Market is Open for Orders!

Good afternoon.

The Wednesday Market is open for orders. Please place your order by 10 p.m. Monday. Orders are ready for pick up between 3 and 6 p.m. Wednesday. Check the website for all of this week’s product offerings. Here is the link:https://wednesdaymarket.locallygrown.net/market

The holidays are almost upon us, and thankfully, some cooler weather! On that note, please mark your calendars now: Pick up for Market orders during the week of Thanksgiving is Tuesday, November 22, from 3 to 6 p.m.

The Wednesday Market is an all-volunteer managed entity, and we are in need of a new volunteer to make the weekly “milk run.” We are so thankful to Jennifer Adams, who took over bringing milk orders to market after Griggs and Brenda Fayard retired from the task. And now, Jennifer is ready to train a new volunteer so that she may have the freedom to pursue some important projects of her own. We trust that the right person will soon come forward and learn the job so that we all may continue to enjoy products from The Good Shepherd. If you are interested or have questions, please call Anna Evans, (770) 584-5056, or Sharon Fox, (404) 569-0582.

We also want to share another opportunity with our farmers and customers. Melissa Steele of Oconee County, Georgia, is looking for someone interested in using her family’s land in Woodland (Talbot County), Georgia, for organic farming. This is Melissa’s story:

“I am originally from Woodland, GA, in Talbot County. My family of farmers goes back there to the mid 1850’s. My grandfather, Cullen Miller, and grandmother, Myrtle Allen Miller have deep roots in that area. Not a day goes by that I don’t miss them.

“My husband and I live near Athens in Oconee County and we have a small mini farm ourselves, among our other endeavors.

“My parents now, and for the last 25 years, live in the Woodland home place, but have never done any sort of farming on that city limits lot, but for many years my grandfather had an abundant garden that fed our entire clan. The soil is probably near perfection after all his years of diligent TLC. Only grass grows there now, and my Dad keeps it neat.

“My parents are in their late 70s and it’s beginning to become evident that their days in that location are numbered. The thought of selling our family home so that they can move closer to us rips me to shreds.

“I am on a mission to find just the perfect people to love and nurture that treasured spot as none of our family is available to take it. So, I’m reaching out to a network of people who care about land, organic farming, home, and heritage.”

If you are interested in learning more about Melissa’s family’s land, please let us know, and we’ll put you in touch with her.

Thank you for your support of locally grown agriculture and for choosing to purchase locally. Have a great Sunday, and we’ll see you at the Market.

Thanks,

Beverly
