Martin's Farmstand:  July 21

Produce, produce, lots of produce everywhere today. The online market is open for orders and there is lots of stuff at the stand. Today we have three kinds of peas ( snow, snap and hull) and lots of both yellow and green beans. The little pickler cukes are ready now. I think we will have sweet corn either late this week or early next week. Daniel

Wick's Locally Grown:  Wick's Locally Grown

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to let you know we will be closed until the fall produce begins to make. That should be in late September.

Have good summer and try to keep cool and we will see you in September.

Princeton Farm Fresh:  The Market is Open

It looks like summer is going to make a come back this week. We are still trying to grow head lettuce this summer, but the heat has slowed its growth way down. It had a bit of a growth spurt last week, but sadly still not ready!
With all of the tomatoes on the market this week I thought I would post the recipe for Tomato Pie that I brought last week to market.
From southernplate.com and if you are new to this type of recipe- she has a great picture log of how she made it. Super Yummy and well worth the effort!

Ingredients

3 medium sized tomatoes
6 large fresh basil leaves (if you don’t have fresh use 2 teaspoons dried)
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/2-3/4 cup mayo
2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
1 teaspoons kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 pie crust baked but not browned

Directions
Cut tomatoes into slices.

Place in colander and sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon table salt. Allow to drain for ten minutes (can skip this step if you like).

Arrange 1/2 of tomato slices in baked pie crust. Top with 1/2 of kosher salt, 1/2 of pepper, 1/2 of basil, 1/2 of vinegar, and 1/2 of cheese.

Repeat.

Spread mayo over top of pie. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until lightly browned.
See you Friday!

Pickett Farm has their delicious and pretty Kennebec potatoes ready now. They had a bumper crop and they are plentiful.

Crow Mountain Orchard has plums and pears now in addition to freestone peaches. Look for grapes and nectarines next week.

There are many more items to choose from, so check out the whole list here:

CSA Farmers Market:  Maple Dill Carrots

3 cups peeled and sliced carrots

Joyful Noise Acres Farm:  The Market closes at 8:00 tonight.

Reminder to get your orders in before the market closes at 8 this evening. The vegetables choices are wonderful and the baked items are tempting! If you have a special occasion coming up, please take a look at Two Daughters bakery. Her cakes are not only lovely to look at but delicious. She will do other specialty cakes not listed on the market.

Thank you for supporting locally grown and we look forward to seeing you Wednesday.
