McColloms Market: January Market Open
Hi All:
I have opened the Market for January. Pick up will be at my house at 112 Shepard Ave. next Friday, January 20th starting at 4:30 pm.
I also want to acknowledge the passing of Nancy Moriarty whose baked goods have been a mainstay of this Market for years. She had a wonderful heart and cared deeply for our community, her family, including her beloved cats, and about providing high quality baked goods for her customers. And yes, she was a character.
I miss her greatly and suspect that many of you do as well.
Until next Friday. Take care in the meantime.
Thanks.
Melinda

Find your favorite fresh and local products online while you stay cozy at home! The Purple Gypsy has fresh batches of soap and lotion bars to keep your skin healthy and smelling great! In addition to apples, winter squash and pumpkins, Drewry Farm and Orchard has been busy making several new scents of candles and wax melts for you to choose from! Hoien Farms has been restocking their grass-fed beef; now you can fill your freezer with your favorites! R&D Farms has some great choices for roasts and premium steak cuts, too! Thank goodness for Mountainview Microgreens, Pine Ridge Gardens and Shoal Creek Farms for keeping the green vegetables coming! The weather was not kind to outdoor gardens but, thanks to the microgreen, greenhouse and hydroponic growers, we have fresh green vegetables available!

Champaign, OH: Crazy Train
Hello, and welcome back to the little local online market!!
This evening was the first market pick up of the year, and I think crazy train sums it all up!!
We had high winds, sheets of rain, a washed out greenhouse that washed away customer names, making it a guessing game of sorts, no lettuce, and your manager who just blew in from vacation just in time to jump on the crazy train with the rest of you.
So….fingers crossed for a more relaxed pick up, next week!
I am opening the market, and hoping that you all have a lovely evening!
XOXO,
Pam

Connie's Cornucopia: We have Buffalo & Lamb
We have added Carrell Farms, Inc. – Monroe, GA – David & Shalley Carrell. They will be providing our family and friends with honest, nutrient dense food. They are not afraid to venture outside of the commodity structure of agriculture to produce a product free of antibiotics, drugs, and GMO’s. Their unique meats are raised right; living a species appropriate lifestyle, eating a species appropriate diet, and harvested humanely. They have water buffalo, alpaca, and lamb are 100% grassfed and finished. Carrell Farms grazes its animals on a forage chain of warm and cool season grasses, legumes, and forbs.
We are starting out with a few items but in 2-3 weeks we should have the rest of their items in stock. I do plan on getting with them and post some videos or information educating us on how best to cook their meats.
Thanks
Connie

Wedge Oak Farm: Weblog Entry
Hello WOF shopper,
We are offering online preorders as requested by many.
Please take a look and see if there is something you want to have on your home menu to start the year . We have cuts, whole ducks and chicken, beef cut, and pork available too.
The layer ducks are still on hiatus as they have not liked the lack of items to forage in their daily wanderings around the farm. The cold took care of many of the favorite treats they find in the pastures. We will get them listed online when the duck hens pick back up.
The chickens are still laying relatively well. Don’t forget to get your* chicken eggs*…
Sausages- all the breakfast sausage you like. Poultry, medium pork, extra sage pork and hot pork breakfast.
Sausage Links abound as well, and our bacon cheddar is available again!
We have sliced our delicious smoked bacon, and added another batch of ground pork.
We are also excited to announce that our retail store at the farm will be open for business starting Monday, January 16th from 10-2 and then again on Friday from 10-6!
Check out the online market.
We will close it Friday morning at 10 AM. Take a look and see if there is something that you would like awaiting you Saturday at Richland Park.
See you there!
New Market HRS- 10-12

This week we’re highlighting the fabulous frozen foods that Jacobs Produce has to offer! Harvested at their peak and preserved for some unseasonal snacking and suppers!
So stock up on:
- Peaches and strawberries (pre-frozen fruit is perfect for smoothies, floats, and shakes)
- Butterbeans (consider then cooking up in a Creamy Casseroles!)
- And of course, a wide variety of field peas, like Zipper, SaDandy, Dixie Lee, and more! (try them as a humble hummus, a savory southern soup, or a brightly hued Buddha bowl (vegan!)
