Champaign, OH:  Soul Kitchen

Let me sleep all night in your soul kitchen
Warm my mind near your gentle stove…
(The Doors – Soul Kitchen

Soul Kitchen…if you follow the Cosmic Charlie Facebook page, you know that the Cosmic kitchen is often referred to as the Cosmic Soul Kitchen.

Soul kitchen comes from my early love of, The Doors and Jim Morrison. It also reflects my early California days when I lived in Venice Beach, grooved to the bohemian scene, absorbed the tales and haunts of earlier times from some of my favorite rock stars. Don’t even get me started on my time spent living in San Francisco and my love of The Grateful Dead:)

Anyway, in my early, early teens, I had a deep love of all things The Doors. My room was plastered with posters, my early college dwellings were a meca of posters of Jim…

When I moved to Los Angeles, I knew that my very first apartment out of college needed to be in Venice Beach. I knew that The Doors used to hang at a soul food restaurant called, Olivia’s, in Venice Beach. I loved being so close to so much rich history in the rock world. I also had befriended people who lived up in Laurel Canyon which thrilled me to be able to travel the roads and imagine where Jim lived, where Joni lived, where all the magic happened in the 60s and 70s.

Anyway…I have adopted, Soul Kitchen, as the Cosmic baking area, with a loving nod to my love of The Doors. Tunes blare when I am hard at work at baking, and so it seems appropriate that this tune joins our Market Love playlist.

And, with that, we did a HUGE playlist drawing…here are the week’s winners…

*Laurie Cuddington
*Julia Gibson
*Cortney Brugh
*Robert Munch

Congrats!!!

The drawings continue, each week!!! The fun never ends at our little locally grown market!

And, the Cosmic Coupon of Love winner is…

*Kay Schenkel!!

Way to rock the market, locavores!!

See you all at pick up, tomorrow night!!

Peace and Love,
Cosmic Pam

GROUP BUY
Gelatin – Collagen Hydrolysate (beef kosher) Unflavored
I’m continuing to offer the group buy orders for Gelatin. You will find it listed under the “Group Buy” category so you can order it along with your normal order.
This item comes from Great Lakes Gelatin and is only shipped in boxes of 12. The order will be placed once we reach that minimum. Cold water Soluble for use in cold beverages or recipes.
Hydrolyzed Collagen is the unique combination of amino acids in concentrated levels that promotes rapid re-production of blood cells for healing and conditioning over other proteins especially for bone and joint health care. This low molecular weight protein is easily digested for healthy enrichment in minutes after ingestion. It will not congeal because it has been hydrolyzed for quick assimilation and improved hydration to the connective tissue. Collagen is important to nitrogen balance, now considered an anti-aging product as it supports age related cartilage damage, and collagen loss. This gelatin comes from all grass fed, hormone free, pesticide free and antibiotic free cows.

PICK UP LOCATION
Building 106, Colony Park Dr. in the Basement of Suite 100, Cumming, GA 30040. Pick up every Saturday between 10-12pm.

Cedar Grove Farm:  In case of rain, CSA pickup change

Hi all,

Looks like a good chance of rain for this evening. If it is raining during market hours, we will be taking all of the boxes to Lindsey’s Culinary Market (save for the Oglethorpe Fresh pickup). If you are unfamiliar with the location, it is located at 1238 Prince Avenue in the same building as the paint store. Boxes will be there from 4-6.

If the rain never comes, we’ll be at the market from 4-7 as usual.

Thanks everyone!

South Cumberland Farmer's Market:  Don't Forget to Pick Up Your Order!!

Very large market today!! Don’t forget to come and get your order if you have one!

ALFN Local Food Club:  938 And Counting!

That’s right. There are 938 products on The Market right this very minute! Each and every one of them is locally grown, sourced, produced, or otherwise benefits an independent Arkansan business person. I for one can’t think of a better illustration of the vast and varied resources our great state has to offer. Sometimes, it can even be a little overwhelming. With all these great goods available at the click of a mouse, how are we supposed to decide what to order?

Allow Me To Make Some Suggestions:

  • Certified Organic new red potatoes and fresh green beans from Green Acres Atkins have just hit The Market. Whether you prefer to savor each individually, or indulge in a classic Southern duet, you’re sure to love the results.
  • Pastured chicken breasts from Falling Sky Farm. Chicken may be a staple in a lot of kitchens, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be sensational! Try these oven roasted and stuffed with rosemary chevre from White River Creamery. Served with a simple salad of arugula from Arkansas Natural Produce and fresh blackberries from Barnhill Orchard and you have a delicious dinner that will impress any guest.

If the crazy abundance of fabulous local food is making you as hungry it’s making me, I have great news! You can order all of this and more, as long as you do it before The Market closes tomorrow morning.
