Martin's Farmstand:  July 4th strawberry update

We will be open for berry picking starting at 7 AM tomorrow morning (July 5). This is the late part of strawberry season. I have 18 rows of Cabot berries that are larger. All the rest of the fields still have a lot of tiny gems in them. After tommorrow, the strawberry patches will be open on Monday, starting at 7 AM and Wednesday starting at 2 PM. That will be the end of formal u-pick hours and the fields will be open for gleaning style picking during regular stand hours. Daniel

Garlic Scapes are on the market this week! These have a mild garlic flavor and are absolutly delicious!

Garlic Scape Hummus:
Garlic Scapes
Garbanzo Beans
Lemon Juice
Olive Oil
Tahini
Salt and Pepper

Add all ingredients into a food processor until creamy smoooth!!

Market will OPEN early because of the festivities of today.

Remember that you can order through Monday afternoon 4pm with pick up on Tuesday Afternoon for both Six Mile and Pickens/Easley.

Baird Farm has Okra, Pink Pontiac and Yukon Gold Potatoes, French Filet Green Beans, Squashes , Sweet Onions , Bozeman Cucumbers (family heirloom) and maybe ( fingers crossed) beautiful Heirloom Tomatoes.

Leah Lake Farm and Giggle Farm have all your lettuces and greens. !

Sylvan Falls Mill has wonderful breads, muffins, scones along with White & Yellow Grits , flours and more. All processed on their own 1840’s stone mill.

Don’t forget the butter and milk products from Southern Oaks Jersey Creamery . Goats milk and cheese from Crescent Moon Farm.

There are many other good farmers offering chemical free food , drink , medicine and bath products.

Take your time, look around. Just make sure to get your orders in by Monday afternoon.

Remember – Spa City on-line market will open again tomorrow morning (Saturday) at 9:00 a.m. with peak-summer locally grown goodies.

Jay and Valerie at JV Farm want us to know that they have gotten stocked back up on pork and now have goat along with some lamb. They will have chicken again in September.
