“Now available from Sweet Cakes Bakery-
FRENCH BREAD, YEAST ROLLS & GNOCCHI!
Gnocchi is a pasta made from not flour and eggs, but…wait for it….potatoes! Gnocchi is wonderful, light, fluffy and delicious as well as being a unique alternative to plain old pasta! My homemade gnocchi is sure to knock your socks off when you include it in any dish, but it is especially good in soups and stews. Homemade gnocchi is so much better tasting than store-bought and without the preservatives! A definite win-win! Gnocchi is also a lower-gluten choice compared to pasta. Try some this week and fall in love!
Homemade Cinnamon Rolls! Lovely, cinnamon goodness rolled and smothered in a sweet icing; available by the dozen or half dozen!
Rosemary Bread, a savory round loaf full of herbs, with a fine, soft texture and utterly delicious! I will be adding more bread over the next few weeks, so be sure to check in and see what is new! Coming soon will be Potato Bread, Butter Bread and French Bread, all homemade! Thank you so much for your support and patronage!”

Champaign, OH:  Blackbird

Blackbird singing in the dead of night…
Take these broken wings and learn to fly…
All your life…
You were only waiting for this moment to arise…
(Beatles – Blackbird)

Happy Saturday!! I hope you are all ready to enjoy what looks like an amazing day!

It’s a typical Saturday, for me, with early hours, bread rising, loads of coffee, and me, at my computer, answering emails, messages, working on social media, planning upcoming entertainment and food vendors for the upcoming Art Affair, and also laughing at random private messages on Facebook that my friends send to me…it’s almost like they can sense when I need to laugh, or when I need a bit of encouragement, or inspiration.

Anyway…typical. But, usually I have music playing, constantly. For some reason, today, I am working in silence for the moment. And, it was so nice to be working but hearing a distant sound…a sound that seems to have not been around for so long…the sound of birds chirping. I went to the window and saw a scattered few on the railing of my back deck.

This brought the greatest joy to me. It brought the biggest smile to my face. There was a reason I had no music on, it was meant for me hear the chirpings. It was all I needed to rejuvenate my soul.

I am not a lover of the long months of winter. I just cannot take the lack of sun, the lack of warmth, I find no beauty in snow…and, around this time, each year, I feel as if I am being strangled by the weather.

I needed the little birds to visit, today…I am now good to go…

So, today, go out and enjoy these warmer temperatures, enjoy the sunshine, and find your own little birds of happiness!

Think about the market, the orders that you need, and the happiness that it will bring you to do all of your shopping, with us, and not have to worry about a thing until….Thursday at pick up!

Sending you much love and sunshine, today…

Peace and Love,
Cosmic Pam

Northeast Georgia Locally Grown:  Northeast Georgia Locallygrown Availability list for Feb.6

Good Evening Locavores
We have had another week with some very cold morning temperature. Despite this your locally grown farmers have many vegetables available for your enjoyment.
Recently I asked Brooks Franklin, owner of leah Lake Farm how his Hoop house vegetables were faring with low in the teens. with a chuckle he said "Hey it is what it is, when it freezes one set of vegetables we plant another. We just keep planting.
It is only by such an optimistic and positive attitude in the face of adversity that your local farmers are able to offer fresh vegetables in February.
The cold also challenges Sylvan Falls Mill. Mike and Linda Johnson grind corn and wheat weekly in a frigid drafty water powered mill to supply fresh milled products, if the water wheel is not totally frozen over with ice that is.
The point is that this is a challenging time of year for all and we should all be especially appreciative for the extra effort that goes into making your Wednesday market pick up possible.
Thanks for supporting your local farmers and have a great weekend.
