Smith Farm:  This market is preparing to open!

This market was added to the system on Thursday July 07, 2022 09:15 PM. It should be open for business soon!

Miami County Locally Grown:  King's Poultry

A note from Kings Poultry:

We’ve see a recent spike in demand, and with this hot summer weather, the last few weeks of chicken processing hasn’t been as great as we’d like. As a result, you might see some shortages, including our chicken breasts, thighs, and wings. We’re hopeful to overcome this shortage over the next few weeks so please bear with us. There are plenty of ground products, sausages, and pot pies to be had for the time being.

We’ll take this moment also to highlight that the chicken you receive from us has generally not been in the freezer long. Most of the product we send out is less than three weeks from butcher date; if you ever receive something that isn’t frozen, that means it was butchered that very morning – that is farm-fresh chicken! We appreciate everyone’s business and will be fully stocked with all of our products shortly.

In the meantime, MCLG’s other chicken vendor, Michael’s Pastured Poultry, has plenty of organic and pastured chicken available. We’ll share an update on what Michael is up to soon!

Miami County Locally Grown:  We're open! (Sorry I'm late...)

Wow, the Fourth of July certainly brought in some hot and muggy weather! At least we get some rain out of the deal. Try to stay cool out there.

New site update

We will be trying to help all of our loyal MCLG customers sign up for an account on our new sales platform – I’m hoping to have someone on hand with a laptop starting at the July 12th market pick-up. It’s not complicated or lengthy, but it might be nice to do with someone else rather than on your own. FYI, you’ll just use your email address as your login, and then you will need to create a password.

I know change is hard, and transitions always have glitches, but this will be so nice once we’re switched. You all are so very supportive of our local market – I appreciate your patience in the event of any hiccups!

Martin's Farmstand:  Summer Abundance, snap peas

In July the list of available produce is rapidly expanding and the prices become much more economical as we move from early intensive season extension to the normal natural period of summertime abundance. There is lots of lettuce, zucchini, cabbage, beet greens, and so much more right now. We have bushels of sugar snap peas today and plan to pick the first of the shell peas in the morning. Beans and black raspberries are just starting and will be abundant with in a few days. We are close to overstocked on lettuce and scallions. Strawberry gleaning is still open for a few days yet. Lathemtown Farm Fresh Market:  This Week at the Market

The market is open for ordering. Though I do not have a lot listed this week I will have the stand stocked on Saturday. We took time for family this week so I won’t have as much coming from the kitchen.
Have a great week!

Champaign, OH:  Tuesday Reminder!

Half a mile from the county fair
And the rain came pourin’ down
Me and Billy standin’ there
With a silver half a crown
Hands are full of a fishin’ rod
And the tackle on our backs
We just stood there gettin’ wet
With our backs against the fence…
(And, It Stoned Me-Van Morrison)

And, yes…we have rain!! So badly needed, and so welcome.

I hope that you are coming off of the holiday on a good note. I hope that you celebrated in any way that made you happy. I took the weekend off after a fun filled opening night, Friday night, of Hippie and the Farmer’s Pizza Farm Friday, and the rest of the weekend I caught up on reading, enjoying a few cocktails, and getting a bit of just plain downtime in before my next few crazy weeks launch.

And, since it feels like a Monday, I wanted to remind you that it is a Tuesday, and the market will close for weekly orders at 8am, today…I know…but really, it takes little time to get your week all started on the right foot with ordering from the market…
