New Field Farm's Online Market:  PLEASE READ !

Greetings,

This email is late this week because I have a foot injury that doesn’t want to heal, probably because I haven’t let it by continuing to work every day. I decided last night that I have to mostly stay off my feet the rest of this week to try to get better.

I’m getting in touch with a couple of experienced people to see if they would be able to harvest and put the orders together. I should know by later today if that’s going to happen.

Please go ahead and order and if I can’t get the help I need I’ll cancel the orders by tomorrow at noon or so. If I do get help I’ll confirm that as soon as I know.

I apologize for any inconvenience.

It would be helpful if you could order by tonight or tomorrow morning, but not essential.

We’re in an arugula and salad mix lull right now. The blueberries are still available for u-pick through this weekend, but we’re not picking for market anymore.

We’ve added green beans and Purple Majesty potatoes. These potatoes will probably be on the smaller side because the potato leaf hopper has been active this year, damaging the foliage which reduces the growth of the tuber.

Squash is in a slow period so we may have to give you what variety we have. This might not be the same as what you order. If you don’t want a substitute please say so in the comment section.

Happy August and thank you for your orders.

Tim

Spa City Local Farm Market Co-op:  The market is closed for ordering

The Spa City Co-op market is now closed for ordering.
Please plan to pick up your orders at Emergent Arts on Friday August 7th from 3:30 – 5:30, preferably before 5 pm.

Don’t forget – this market has no paid positions, so we NEED VOLUNTEERS to run every market. It’s fun, you get a $5 gift card, and you learn so much about local foods in Arkansas.

Thanks, Joe and Charlene!

In anticipation of Champaign County Fair Week! Oils that are good insect repellents are; Citronella and Lavender oils helps repel flies and mosquitos by putting a few drops of oil on a cotton ball, smear on door or window screens. Put a few drops on the brim of your garden hat, outside collar and cuffs of your blouse or shirt and hems of slacks and shorts. Peppermint Oil works on ridding the dwellings of spiders and ants. Make a simple concoction by filling an 8 oz. spray bottle ½ full of distilled water or boiled water, fill rest of jar to almost to the top with witch hazel or rubbing alcohol add about 20 to 30 drops of peppermint oil. Spray in corners around areas ants and spiders can be found. Patchouli oil works well on gnats and aphids. Lavender oil also works well of fleas and moths.
