New Field Farm's Online Market:  Weblog Entry

Greetings,

A few small green cabbages survived the porcupines (I caught another tonight in the kale)so we have some to offer.
There’s some nice Summer Crisp lettuce that got nipped by frost so we’re offering that for a bit less than usual.

The hoop house has a nice stand of lettuce, kale, arugula and spinach so we’ll see how long we can offer greens into the fall.

Still lots of onions, potatoes, carrots, leeks, kale, chard, spinach and bok choy.

Looks like we’ll have a little honey to offer again this year once we extract it.

Enjoy the beautiful autumn and thank you for your orders.

Tim

Martin's Farmstand:  Sweet potatoes

Sweet potatoes, lots of sweet potatoes, we have successfully grown lots of nice big sweet potatoes. In past years the sweet potato harvest was an awful lot of work as we dug them with a spade; they dig hard. This year I bought a tool for the tractor that reaches underneath the whole bed and loosens the ground with out stirring the soil much. It was a much easier process. I am looking forward to parsnip harvest.
The big fall irish potato harvest will begin late next week or early the following week, depending on soil conditions.
We just had some really good white sweet corn for supper. This last planting is at its prime right now. Daniel

I spent most of the day trying to coax them back. After about 5 hours and a visit from animal control they all came home. The whole ordeal left me exhausted ad that allowed me to sleep like a baby when done.

Anyway, we are open! With lots of good stuff. After I post this I will adding collards, winter squash, mushrooms and more to the list so order up.

Thank you,
Brady
