Champaign, OH:  Peaceful Easy Feeling

‘Cause I get a peaceful easy feelin’
And I know you won’t let me down
‘Cause I’m already standing I’m already standing
Yes I’m already standing on the ground…
(Peaceful, Easy Feeling-The Eagles)

So, my life is crazy. Like, literally, every single minute of every single day, crazy. It’s a good crazy. It’s a self created crazy. It’s the product of running multiple business ventures, a shop, servicing restaurants with my breads, managing two farmers’ markets, serving on boards, and committees, and making time to hang with friends, making time for me, making time, making time, making time…and, as I run here, there, and everywhere, I make time.

I make time because it’s important to me, to fulfill all of my obligations, deadlines, and to touch base with the people around me, that love me.

I am a lucky, lucky girl. I have a huge support team, I have a most awesome girl gang, I have amazing Bread Heads who are my customers, I have an amazing business partner for my newest venture, Hippie and the Farmer, and I have a home base that seems to know when I need to crash. When I get to the point where I want to nap while driving, or when I want to cry in the middle of the say, or when I need the time for a deep conditioning hair appointment.

I can’t be me without my people. My tribe. My circle. I can’t be me without my trusted few.

Tonight, I was reaching crash and burn time. I wanted to sit in my car, and either laugh, cry, or yell. Nothing bad had happened, but I was at my limit of juggling, handling, smiling, listening…I love my life. I love all that I do. I love everyone who needs me, because, in turn, I need them. But there are times, and then there are times.

Something, in the split second of a mixed up evening, gave me a free evening. I walked into my house while the sun was still shining. I did a few mundane tasks that made me feel like I was on top of the world. I put on my oldest, most favorite Dead t-shirt, cutoffs, and sat on my back deck with a glass of wine. Okay. Two glasses.

I lit candles, made a lovely dinner, listened to music, talked to a few friends, and slowly found my way back to me. So strange how a boring evening of nothingness can be so good for your soul.

So, just like this little local market of love sometimes needs, I gave myself a little recharge. A little regroup. A little meet and greet with myself. Because, I feel that when we allow things to recharge, we get a new spark of energy. A new love of ourselves, of what’s around us.

This is how I am opening our lovely market, tonight. With a peaceful, easy feeling…let’s all just take that moment to regroove…go ahead. Take a breath, sing a song, smile your biggest smile…take a nap, go to bed, and sleep in late. Catch up with an old friend. Shut yourself off from everyone. That’s what is so great about how we each recharge. It’s all for us. Just like this market. We make the market what we want, to fit what we need.

Go ahead…place your orders, and create your own peaceful, easy feeling…

Peace, Love, Good Vibes…
Cosmic Pam

The Wednesday Market:  Happy Sunday! It's Time to Order

Good morning.

The Wednesday Market is open for orders. Please place your order by 10 p.m. Monday. Orders are ready for pick up between 3 and 6 p.m. Wednesday. See the website for all of this week’s product offerings. Here is the link: https://wednesdaymarket.locallygrown.net/market

Thank you to the customers who ordered from St. Simons Island Shrimp Specialist last week. Bear with us as we work to refine an ordering pattern and delivery schedule for our newest producer. Orders for Georgia shrimp will be taken every week, but the shrimp will be delivered ONCE per month, on the first Wednesday of the month. You will not be charged for your order until you pick up.

On another note, it is finally TOMATO SEASON! I am doing my happy dance because I know I’ll be making caprese salad very soon! So far, my sweet husband Joe has harvested two luscious tomatoes from our sturdy plant. Thank goodness our little plot survived the ferocious storm that struck Zebulon on June 17!

Concord Street Sweets will be back on the Market soon.

Thank you for your support of locally grown agriculture and for choosing to purchase locally! We’ll see you at the Market.

Thanks,

Beverly

New Vendor: Certified Wild Caught Shrimp

I am very excited to welcome Jason from St. Simons Island Shrimp Specialist to our family of growers and producers!! He will provide the market Ocean to Table, HACCP Certified Wild Caught Georgia Sweet White Shrimp weekly starting this weekend.

He will be offering fresh and frozen this week. These same shrimp sell for $12.99 per pound at our local grocers on the coast of Georgia. If you can find them in the Atlanta area they will be at least $15 per pound. Take advantage of the great price of $9.99 per lb!

I’m looking forward to shrimp scampi, boiled shrimp, grilled shrimp kabobs, shrimp and grits, shrimp jambalaya, shrimp salad … OK now I’m starting to sound like Bubba from Forest Gump but you get the point!

Wild Caught Shrimp is an excellent source of Tryptophan (an essential amino acid), Vitamin B12, Healthful fats, including omega-3, saturated fat and cholesterol, Selenium, Protein, an Astaxanthin.

If you are a seafood lover you are won’t be disappointed!

Tip: The frozen shrimp is flash frozen right after the catch and will be in a big block. If you only need a pound or so you can run part of the block under cold water and the shrimp will fall out. You can store the remaining frozen part of the block in the freezer until next time.

Group Buy Change – Wilderness Family Naturals this weekend

This weekend we will be taking orders for organic coconut oils and pantry items from Wilderness Family Naturals. These items include healthy oils, spices, cacao, grains, rice, coconut products, Nuts (Raw, Soaked & Dried, Certified Organic, Mixed) and natural sweeteners.

So, I know the original calendar had FCLO and collagen this weekend but I just got an email from Wilderness Family Naturals that they are having a buying club sale! I want to pass on this savings to all of you so I’m switching the group buy for Wilderness Family Naturals to THIS WEEKEND. Since I just found out, I have not adjusted pricing on the market site yet. This is a very tedious task and I’m going to try to get them updated by the market opening tomorrow morning but realistically I probably won’t get a chance to fix pricing until Friday sometime. Just know, even if you order before I update the pricing, I will adjust your order total before Tuesday when payment is due. Expect about a 15% discount. I will have (SALE) listings available as soon as I can!

These Group Buy Items WILL NOT be at pick up this Tuesday. I will place our group buy order after I receive payment on Tuesday. This is a pre-paid pre-order and payment is expected this Tuesday at pick or you can mail a check.

Please expect at least 2 weeks for this order to arrive.

Our group buy for Wilderness Family Natural products is every 3 to 4 months so please plan accordingly.

Volunteers Needed

Please consider volunteering during market pick up. I can’t run the co-op without your help!

Here’s one way that will really help us out – if you are on Facebook or other social media please consider posting a pic of your co-op goodies! Foothills Market:  It's Officially Summer - We Have Tomatoes

We are beginning to harvest the first of the tomatoes for the season. We planted 8 or more different varieties, most of them heirloom varieties. Some are red, some are orange, and some are dark brownish-red. Some are large, some are small; some are “bumpy,” while others are almost perfectly round. Choose your favorite variety or, if you prefer, we offer a variety pack that includes at least three different types of tomatoes.

Another offering that says “summer” (at least to me) is pinto beans. If you haven’t tried pinto beans fresh, you owe it to yourself to do it at least once. Dry pintos are great for chili and to go with ham and cornbread, but fresh pintos have a flavor the dry beans don’t.

We still have limited amounts of blueberries, broccoli, and cabbage, and great amounts of green beans. If you’d like to get a bulk order of green beans for canning or freezing, contact us about a discount price.

The order window is noon today until 5 p.m. Friday for pick-up at Saturday’s farmers’ market (9-11 a.m.) on the courthouse square. You can place your order at the Foothills Market webpage.

Eat something fresh this week!

Conyers Locally Grown:  Market canceled for Friday June 24

With a heavy heart I need to cancel this weeks market. We have had a death in the family. We will need to focus all our attention on my sister and her family. My nephew Dillon passed away yesterday from complications with his diabetes. This tragedy strikes hard. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we try to find closure.
Thank you,
