Good morning!
It’s a good week – there’s lots of greens, radishes, turnips this week – order away!

Gwinnett Locally Grown:  WILD CAUGHT SALMON AND MARKET CLOSES IN A FEW HOURS!

Good morning and good Monday to you all!

Just a quick reminder, the market WILL BE CLOSED NEXT WEEK! so make sure you pick up your essentials for this week and the NEXT!

Bill from Back in Time Farm has a great new product available at the market. WILD CAUGHT RED SOCKEYE SALMON. Bill’s son is a fisherman in Alaska and he catches and packs his salmon as it comes out of the water! The fish is then packaged and sent to Bill within a few days after that. It does not get any fresher than that! Now Bill needs a significant order to make it worth while to ship all the way out to us, so PLEASE PLACE YOUR ORDERS NOW! That way Bill knows how much to reserve. This new item is listed under our “Meat” session in the market. It is $22/lb which is very reasonable if you take into account that is a) wild caught and b) as FRESH as you can get it! TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS LIMITED OFFER TODAY!

Have a great week and I'll see you tomorrow for pick up!

Market News

Seems like every year about this time, it suddenly hits me that summer is almost over and the new school year is almost upon us. I’ve got two girls in school, but even if I didn’t this community is based far more on the academic year than the calendar one. Even though we might have the hottest few days of the summer this week, it’s time for me to start thinking about cool season school uniforms, waiting outside for the busses, and trying to keep packed lunches hot.

The new school year brings new people to town, and new ALG customers. Welcome, all of you! We’ve already seen quite a few new faces these past few weeks. If you ever have any questions about how our market operates, please don’t hesitate to shoot me an email or talk with me during Thursday pickups. The new year also changes existing household routines, so it’s easy to forget it’s Thursday and you’ve got an order waiting for you at Ben’s Bikes. I do make phone calls to everyone who hasn’t arrived by 7:30, and every week catch at least one person who has completely forgotten. I also get a lot of home phone answering machines, though, so now’s a good time to make sure you’ve got a mobile number on your account if you have one. You can change your contact info and several other account details on the Your Account page of the website.

Thanks so much for your support of Athens Locally Grown, all of our growers, local food, and our rights to eat it. You all are part of what makes Athens such a great area in which to live. We’ll see you on Thursday at Ben’s Bikes at the corner of Pope and Broad Streets from 4:30 to 8pm!

Other Area Farmers Markets

The Athens Farmers Market is open on Saturdays at Bishop Park and Wednesday afternoons downtown at Creature Comforts. You can catch the news on their website. The West Broad Farmers Market from the Athens Land Trust is open Saturday mornings and Wednesdays from 11am-2pm in the atrium at St. Mary’s Hospital. They have a website too. The Comer Farmers’ Market is open for the season on Saturday mornings from 9am to noon. Check www.facebook.com/comerfm for more information. The Oconee County Farmers Market is open on Saturdays in Watkinsville. Their website is www.oconeefarmersmarket.org. Washington, GA also has a lovely little Saturday market, running from 9-1. You can learn all about them here: www.washingtonfarmersmkt.com. If you know of any other area markets operating, please let me know.

All of these other markets are separate from ALG (including the Athens Farmers Market) but many growers sell at multiple markets. Please support your local farmers and food producers, where ever you’re able to do so!

We thank you for your interest and support of our efforts to bring you the healthiest, the freshest, and the most delicious locally-produced foods possible!

DeForest, WI:  Availability for the week of July 17

The Market is open for ordering. As usual Forest Run Farm will host the market after taking a week off and Friday open hours will be 3-6pm.

You will find the summer items coming to market like tomatoes and green beans and cucumbers. If the online availability reaches Zero, add to your comments that you’d like some if they become available. The berries are questionable at this time, but the same is true for them, add it to your comment section.

Have a great week, see you soon!

Market News

Hello!

It’s high summer here in Tennessee, and we’ve got the great selection of summer’s bounty!

Check out the “Fruits” section of the market! There is a great selection of our organically grown summer fruits on there – sweet luscious watermelon and cantaloupe, blueberries of course, and Blackberries!

Please remember that we guarantee all of our products. If you are not fully pleased with the quality, taste, or condition of anything you buy from us, we will refund or replace it 100%. Your satisfaction and trust in us is very important to us, so please let us know! It is especially important during melon season. Not all melons are going to be satisfying! We want you to experience a good one, so let us know if you get one that wasn’t to your liking and we will replace it or get you a refund!

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday! Thank you so much for all your support!

John and Tallahassee
