Serves: 10

3/4 cup Yellow cornmeal
3/4 cup Self-rising flour
1 large Egg (lightly beaten)
2/3 cup 2% milk
10 Hot dogs or sausages
Oil for deep fat frying
10 pop sticks

  1. Combine the cornmeal, flour, and egg in a large bowl. Stir in the milk until a thick batter is formed. Let stand for 4 minutes. Transfer the batter to a tall glass.
  2. Insert the sticks into the hot dogs/sausages, then dip them into the batter.
  3. Heat the oil in a deep fat fryer or an electric skillet. Heat the oil to 375 degrees. Working in batches, fry the corn dogs for 6 to 8 minutes, turning occasionally. Corn dogs should be golden brown when finished. Let drain on paper towels before serving.
