Champaign, OH:  Love Grows

Because Love grows where my Rosemary goes
And nobody knows like me…
(Love Grows-Edison Lighthouse)

Each week, I feel the love in this little local market. From customers, from vendors, from the YMCA…it’s all a huge circle of love radiating right from this market. It takes a lot to see continued growth, and at times, you wonder if the whole plant is just going to wither and give up, but then a new wave happens, a new growth spurt, and new blossom, and things continue on with the growing plan…

Our market has periods of huge growth, we have periods of stagnant growth, we have periods of steady as she goes growth…but one thing is constant…we never wither or give up!

This week, we welcome a new gluten free baker to the mix!! She is our youngest vendor, and I hope to publish her bio, soon!! Her name is Madison, and we are excited to welcome her to this growth spurt!!

We also are seeing more and more seasonal items pop in for a visit!! Please remember to take advantage, now, and order all that you can!! Since it’s all seasonal, it won’t be around forever!!

It’s a beautiful sunshine day, today!! Take advantage of it, but first, throw us an order of love!!

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

We have been the guests of the Park family, utilizing a storage building for Market delivery (several deliveries made Tuesday or Wednesday), distribution (all items for BOTH Markets delivered there), separated by Market location. In addition, this has been the Pickup Location for the Members of the Lawrenceville Market.

Stan and Nicole have been renting the property for a number of years and the Landlord has decided to sell. Originally they were to vacate by the end of May; however, illness of Nicole’s sister and her travel to be with her has moved that time back to the end of June. (Please pray for Nicole’s sister and her family as she is battling liver cancer and is close to the end of her journey here on earth.)

If you know of some place that would be willing to sponsor the Market (allow us to use space), please contact me as soon as possible. If a suitable place cannot be found, the Market will be closing. Please give me ideas! I have made inquiries with some churches, nutritionists offices and chiropractic offices. also, several of our Member are checking out other options for us! You can email me at heirloomlivingmarket@gmail.com or call me at 404-432-4337 I am working so, please, if you do not get an immediate answer, text me. I will respond to calls and emails in the evenings.

Market News

The town has slowed to a crawl, and it seems like my Facebook feed is a non-stop slideshow of photos of people on vacation. I took a few days myself, getting a personal guided tour of one of Georgia’s more wild barrier islands. Saint Catherines Island has a long relationship with the unusual, from the location of what is thought to be the first Christian church in the United States, to being the private playground of a candy baron, to today’s distinction of being the home to the only population of free-ranging lemurs outside of Madagascar. I didn’t even know this place existed a year ago, and it was amazing to see in person. If you’re like me and extremely curious about the island, here’s a series of weekly writings about it, written by one of the current residents.

I’m back now, working, tending my garden, and enjoying everything going just a little bit slower than it had been. Got the last of the seedlings that had been languishing on my picnic table into the ground yesterday, just in time for today’s rain to really perk them back up. I’ve still got about 40 square feet to clear and plant, with beans and squash and okra, but so far my first year with this new garden has been an enjoyable one.

If you’re still in town, I look forward to seeing you on Thursday! Thank you so much for your support of Athens Locally Grown, all of our growers, local food, and our rights to eat it. You all are part of what makes Athens such a great area in which to live. We’ll see you on Thursday at Ben’s Bikes at the corner of Pope and Broad Streets from 4:30 to 8pm!

All of these other markets are separate from ALG (including the Athens Farmers Market) but many growers sell at multiple markets. Please support your local farmers and food producers, where ever you’re able to do so!
