South Cumberland Farmer's Market:  Bring your Appetites to Market Tomorrow!

Fox Farm will be partnering with Dogwood Farm at the June 17 Meet the Grower. Dogwood Farm will be providing the sandwich rounds for the pulled pork barbecue featured by Fox Farm who will be showcasing one way its pork can be prepared by offering pulled pork barbecue with a choice of homemade honey cranberry barbecue sauce or homemade Fox Farm barbecue sauce. Samples will be available. Barbecue sandwiches will be served on Dogwood Farm’s sandwich rounds for $6.00.

Fox Farm will also have one-pound containers of pulled pork barbecue with 4 ounces of either sauce for $10.00 (bread is extra with the one pound option). All frozen meat is in vacuum-sealed bags.

Once again, we’ll be outside for this event. In the event of rain, we’ll be inside.

Princeton Farm Fresh:  The Market is Open

Good Morning-
Sorry for the late opening this morning. It is funny to report that I have been having technical difficulties. That shouldn’t happen to an online farmers market!! So as I sit here at McDonalds, I find it quite ironic, to be opening our local foods market.
I would like to take this moment to welcome our newest grower, Bungalow Herbs. I had a lovely time with Terri last week while she handed out her orders. The gnocchi looked wonderful, and ya’ll might have to fight me for more this week. I especially like the mixed herb bouquet we got two weeks ago at the First Saturday market. Two weeks and it is still going strong, although there is not much left. At our house it sits on the kitchen counter looking pretty and getting added to everything.
I am enjoying this weather, and I look forward to seeing you on Friday.
Angela

Gratitude & Volume

We are grateful to have a great group of dedicated growers this summer! This means that you will have access to wonderful veggies like summer greens, beans, spinaches, and squash for which our Market has become known PLUS much more. Hydroponic growing methods make it possible for Faithful Farms to offer produce not normally available this time of year. As a result, our Market is also expecting lettuces, kale, zucchini, squash, tomatoes, peppers, sugar snap peas, and more bush beans. Once these items start producing they should be available all summer long, short of any issues with weather or bugs. HERE’S HOW YOU CAN HELP: Initially the amount available is going to seem low but please know that AS DEMAND GROWS, Faithful Farm will allocate more veggies for us on a weekly basis. REMEMBER: The priority is to eat FRESH produce that can be artistically arranged and dressed so that your palate welcomes them to your body! Read Barbara Kingsolver’s book “Animal, Vegetable, Miracle” and get all the inspiration (and more) to get on board with this concept.

Grower News

NEW GROWER
Keen Green has joined us to offer hydroponically grown, UNCUT LIVE micro-greens in small containers that you can leave on your kitchen counter to harvest at will. Several of their greens will give you more than one growing!

Message from Your Market Manager

CLOSING FOR THE FOURTH
We will close the week of July 4th. Please plan ahead for what you might need and order the week of June 23rd instead. MOST produce and products will keep AT LEAST two weeks. Remember that all meats and fish are frozen so they can easily be purchased in advance too. Do call Tina if you need help figuring out what will keep. 727-515-9469

FRUIT!
Thanks to all who helped to make our Market fruit a sellout last week. I will continue making a concerted effort to bring fruit into our market in larger quantities—every other week—as demand builds. Until then, you will need to shop early to get a share of it.

CALL FOR FRIDAY DELIVERY VOLUNTEERS
If you have been considering volunteering for St. Pete Locally Grown, now is the time to jump in. We are in great need of volunteers to help deliver our fresh, gorgeous produce to St. Pete customers on Fridays between 1pm and 530pm. We have two shifts of teams to build for the summer and our training will help make it fun. You can’t imagine how wonderful it is to be greeted by customers who are excited and grateful to be receiving delivery from you. Please call Tina at 727-515-9469 to discuss what is involved. Oh, almost forgot to mention, you get to ride in or drive a beautiful air-conditioned van with our magnetic signs on it. It is a blast and a great service to provide to the St. Petersburg Community.

NEW CO-OP St. Pete Locally Grown is now delivering on Friday at Bryan Dairy & Belcher Roads. Please help us get the word out? Delivery fee is $6. The location is 7600 Bryan Dairy Rd. in Largo at the intersection of Bryan Dairy & Belcher. Dr. Tracy Leonhardt, DO has an office there and has given us permission to use the parking lot. We so appreciate her support! FYI, Dr. Leonhardt’s website is www.PeaksOfHealth.com

SUMMER HOURS
In the summertime, we normally close the Market every other week so we can regroup and rest for the busy fall season. HOWEVER, I am having second thoughts about that. Instead, I am considering closing just ONE WEEK per month so our growing customer base will have the produce and service they have come to expect. During the month of June, I will be watching closely to determine if the demand is there for us to stay open 3 out of 4 weeks. Stay tuned!

WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST CUSTOMERS!
Once you have submitted your order, if in doubt about what you owe, you can always confirm what you have been charged for by checking your account history and viewing your most current invoice. Instructions on how to do that are on our Q&A page under the question entitled Since you don’t provide an invoice with delivery, how do I know what I owe? Also, since your vegetables are picked fresh within 24 hours of delivery, they should be lasting for WEEKS in your refrigerator. When you accept delivery, please take a few minutes to inspect your order to protect your vegetables from unnecessary spoilage. Lastly, it is imperative that you understand our policy on Unclaimed Orders found on our Q&A page. When you make a purchase you are agreeing to abide by this policy.
