Northeast Georgia Locally Grown:  Locally Grown - Availability for September 3, 2014

Hey Local Food Lovers,

Oops! Looks like I took a holiday in getting the weekly message out in time. But you still have 30 minutes to shop if you happen to get this e-mail the second it comes out.

Also want to put in a quick plug for our newest vendor to Locally Grown. The Herb Cottage Garden has an impressive 28 bath and beauty products listed which includes lotions, salves, creams, body butter, hand sanitizer, mosquito repellant, massage oil and scrubs. Many of them include herbs, leaves and other natural botanicals that Lynne grows on her property. Give ’em a try and soothe your skin the natural way.

Thanks folks and hope you had a LABOR FREE Labor Day!

EAT WELL,

Justin, Chuck, Teri and Andrew

JUICE BOOSTER BY JEFF!

Nathan’s Natural Veggies is now offering a mix of Power Booster greens (Moluccan Spinach, Green & Chartreuse sweet potato leaves, and Cranberry Hibiscus leaves) to combine with carrots, apples and beets and produce a green powerhouse blend of flavor and nutrients you will feel immediately when you drink it. The product description for “Greens (Juicing Bundle: Power Booster)” holds the recipe and how many carrots, etc. to purchase as those are not included in the bundle. Fortunately for all of us, Volunteer videographer and local juicing expert Jeff Yentzer of vibranthealthvideos.com has designed a how-to recipe for this healthy juice and shared in a 5-minute instructional video for our customers.

CREATIVE LOAFING BEST OF THE BAY 2014
We won’t know the results until they are published online Sept. 18th. Thanks to all who voted for us!

FEATURED FRESH FRUIT THIS WEEK ==>Gala apples and Starkrimson pears which are a beautiful garnet red. These were a huge seller last season.

TOMATOESCERTIFIED ORGANIC We thought we’d get ahead of the curve and, while waiting for our local growers to have tomatoes, we would order some from a farm in North Florida. We got the OK and then were delivered tomatoes from NC. We do try! Hope you will buy them anyway as we have priced them to sell and we don’t want any leftovers (as we are closed next week…) They weigh about 1/2 pound each and they are beautiful!

UPDATE ON GROWERS
Pioneer Settlement Garden is challenged by some type of pest attacking its sweet peppers. Grower Ray sends regrets!

MORE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED NOW
We are still recruiting new folks to serve the St. Petersburg Community from 2 to 4 hours “per Market week” on Wednesdays thru Fridays. We will train and we promise you will have fun! Please call or email me if you want to meet some fabulous, like-minded people!

WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST CUSTOMERS!
Once you have submitted your order, if in doubt about what you owe, you can always confirm what you have been charged for by checking your account history and viewing your most current invoice. Instructions on how to do that are on our Q&A page under the question entitled Since you don’t provide an invoice with delivery, how do I know what I owe? Also, since your vegetables are picked fresh within 24 hours of delivery, they should be lasting for WEEKS in your refrigerator. When you accept delivery, please take a few minutes to inspect your order to protect your vegetables from unnecessary spoilage. Lastly, it is imperative that you understand our policy on Unclaimed Orders found on our Q&A page. When you make a purchase you are agreeing to abide by this policy.

SATISFACTION GUARANTEED
Our Market has high standards for what it sells. Despite that—as seasons transition—the challenges of evolving weather and pesky insects can take its toll on the crops. Market Growers are being very selective about what they are willing to present to you. No, it won’t always be picture perfect (which is part of its charm) and sometimes an insect is going to evade capture! But we won’t send you anything that we wouldn’t eat ourselves. If for any reason we have goofed and you are dissatisfied, please report it to me right away so we can rectify the situation. That’s how we get better and we all benefit from that. Your satisfaction is key to our success as a resource for St. Petersburgs’ lovers of chemical-free, organically & locally grown vegetables.

Green Pasture Your order is in and ready for pick up at the market. I also ordered a few extras in case you missed it, these extras will be on the extras shelf this Saturday.

Cheese I’ve placed an order for a variety of cheeses from Meadow Valley Farm. Look for these listed under Dairy. Your initial cost is $5 for about 1.25 lb but since the weights vary, the final price will be calculated at pick up.
