Atlanta Locally Grown:  Available for Satyrday February 4

I hope this finds you all doing well.
What a nice weekend. We were able to get a bunch of stuff done. We spread some lime, green-sand and even got to till. I cut the last of the endive, radicchio and some pock choi for the piggies. It turned out to be three large tubs, yum yum.
I got Big Mamma separated into her own little area. We are on the count down with 20 days left.

The veggies are getting a little thin for now. They are not rebounding as fast after each cutting. We need a little more light. Not to worry though, the selection is still great.

We also have a few breads listed, Westen Farm has two choices and Hearts in the Mix should get their selections listed soon.
We are ready for volunteers to weed and such. We should be transplanting in two or three more weeks.

Remember you have at least 21 meals to plan for this week, 28+ if you include your snacks. We hope some of your selections come from our efforts.
We enjoy being your farmers.

Thank you for all your support. Please remember to have your orders placed by 8PM on Wednesday.
We will see you Saturday between 9AM and 10AM at the green market in Piedmont Park. Please make sure you arive early as we will only be bringing orders and would like to be on our way by 10:00 or so.

Thank you,

CAFE:  Last Vegetables Standing

SUNDAY UPDATE: 1.29.12

Dear CAFÉ members.

What do we eat in January, indeed!

Above ground we are pretty much down to the hardiest of the hardy: collards, kale and turnips. Notice how they get sweeter and sweeter with each frost.

Below ground we are racing the rodents to claim the last of the beets, carrots, chokes, and turnips.

Due to the mild winter (so far!) we have an early start on some spring crops with onions and scallions, and order some pea seeds which you can try planting right now.

Plenty of meat and biscotti with which to wash these down!

Thanks for your orders. We will see you Tuesday!

Eat well to stay well! Lance

Recipes – We’ll pay you up to $5 to add some!!
Thanks to: Jennifer Lailey, Leanne Wierzbicki, Joanne Gascon-Poulin, Nancy Rissanen, and Jeannie Rempel for adding recipes!

It’s also easy to add your own favourites on there – please do! Why not start a Recipe Blog – every Sunday (or whenever) share a recipe with Thunder Bay (and the world…). You can even add your tips, comments and a picture of it! You get full credit right on the page while building up interest in this site and local food in general.
