News from Our Growers:

The Market is filling up with delicious Summer Produce and Baked Items, order early so you don’t miss any of your favorite things.

Ewe and Me Homestead: Sheep milk is naturally homogenized and lactose friendly. Easy on those sensitive to cow/goat protein or casein. Can be frozen and thawed and still used to make cheese. High calcium content, most nutritious milk available, the only other milks that can be compared is camel and the water buffalo. Sheep milk is significantly higher in milk solids (Fat and Protein) high in A2 protein, Vitamin B12 and folate.

RnR Farm: This week we have a great selection of naturally grown lettuces, cucumbers, and tomatoes. Including a new offering for “black cherry” tomatoes. They are super sweet bites that look like the little brother of the Cherokee Purple tomato.
Also, a helpful summertime lettuce consumer tip: make sure you always allow time for your RnR farms lettuce to chill either in the fridge or in an ice bath before serving. We pick the same day as the market delivery to ensure maximum freshness. The Southern Summer heat and humidity do a number on lettuce plants, and you will always get the best taste if you allow all of the field heat to be removed from your greens (and reds). We do ice bath all of our lettuce during the washing stage, but sometimes we do not have the time available to completely remove all field heat. If you do wish to consume your lettuce on the same day of delivery, melt several ice cubes in a large bowl of water so the water temp is around 40 degrees. Then submerge the lettuce completely and allow to chill for 15-20 minutes. Remember to not let the lettuce come in direct contact with the ice, because it only takes a few moments for freeze damage to occur.

Mama D’s Bakery: Hi everyone! We have everything available this week! We have a Sourdough Sandwich Loaf, Oatmeal Cookies, Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies, Strawberry Swirl Bread, Raspberry Swirl Bread, and Apple Cinnamon Swirl Bread, Blueberry Muffins, Crusty French Bread, Organic White Wheat Bread, Mocha Muffins, Chocolate Swiss Roll, Cinnamon Rolls, Caramel Apple Cinnamon Rolls, Blueberry Lemon Yeast Rolls, Banana Bread and Pumpkin Bread(with the option of nuts or not), Bagels(plain, cinnamon-raisin, blueberry, and everything), Donuts(cake and yeast), Cream Cheese Danishes, Pies(chocolate fudge, pecan, chocolate chip pecan, pumpkin and sweet potato), Cookies, Granola and Protein Bars, Yeast Breads, Sourdough Breads, and Fruit Scones. Thanks so much to everybody for your business!!

Spring Meadow Farm: Back this week with several delicious items! Garlic Bulbs, Kale, Lemon cucumbers, Red Pontiac Potato, Sunburst Squash, Assorted Cherry Tomato’s and White Kennebec potato’s.

Quarter Spring Farm: Summer is great. Long days at the lake and long nights around the campfire. Good times with friends and family. And bugs. Lots of bugs. If you want to enjoy being outside without being feasted on by flying foes, try our Bug Off bar from Quarter Spring Farm. It is formulated to be easy on your skin and the planet, but hard on bugs. We have several new scents available for our lotion bars and have released our seasonal summer soap scents: Kiss from a Rose and Cream Soda. Be sure to check them out this week on the market.

Sow’s Ear Piggery: We have lots of great choices of products for grilling and smoking. As always, our pork is raised outdoors, in sunshine and fresh air. No antibiotics or hormones. Fed non-GMO feed and fresh vegetables.

Dogwood Valley Greenhouse: Something NEW! Rudbeckia, NEW FOR 2021! This popular plant produces a mass of golden yellow daisy-like flowers from July to September. The flowers are borne to a height of 24 inches, above slightly hairy, lance-shaped foliage. Dazzling mounds of yellow flowers with a deep brown center. Rudbeckia is very long blooming, unbothered by insects or drought. Grows in rich, moist soil in full sun to part shade. Plant in the border garden or cottage garden, where the nectar rich flowers will attract butterflies. Use as a cut flower. Hardy in zones 4-9.
Also several varieties of Mints and herb plants available and Hosta Plants this week, miniature and midsize as well Hanging Baskets.

Short Mountain Cultures: We have so many delicious and usable items to select from its hard to just select a few to highlight. Our Bulk Dry Products are plentiful, Fermented and Culture Products are always delicious and beneficial. We feature Hatcher Dairy Milks and various other products for body and health.

Flying S Farms: Several of our Summer Produce is becoming more available. Most requested Tomatoes, Corn. Other items include: several Assorted Sweet Peppers, Assorted Eggplant varieties, Cabbage, Potatoes, Variety of Summer Squash.

Washtenaw Organic Collaborative:  Market is open and very important announcement

Dear WOC customer,

The online market is open and we have a very important announcement that this week’s cycle will be the last one for the time being.

We’ve made the difficult decision to shelve the Washtenaw Organic Collaborative online marketplace for now – the last pickup will be July 24th.

It’s been a wonderful collaborative experience, and felt like really what we all needed, especially last year! We are extremely appreciative of all the contributions folks have made and all the dedication of our very loyal customers. However, when considered against multiple factors, including sales being a small fraction of what they were last year and not trending well, the three founding members decided simply put we could no longer justify the energy it requires of us.

We will mothball the name and marketing narrative. There will be a few more communications with information regarding where to find the products of all our wonderful vendors.

The collaborative experience has been a very valuable learning experience. We look forward to future opportunities to collaborate with this great community! We feel prepared for future scenarios where this kind of collaboration may be called upon again. Thanks for all your support and all you do!

-Shannon, Kim, and Kristen

CLG:  Opening Bell: Beef, Potatoes, Onions, Coffee!

Hello friends!

Facemasks are once again required at Friday pick ups. COVID-19 numbers are on the rise and we want to do our part to stop the spread.

Most area gardens and farmland received some rain this week and a few days of cooler temperatures will really help production. Check out the many products available this week. Try to find a new variety of tomato.

Be sure to SEARCH for your favorite items using the search field. For instance, type in the word “ground” or “pork” and see what pops up. We have over 400 items available now!

Most items are listed by 6pm Sunday, but check back again before the market closes Tuesday night to see if any other items are ready to be harvested for you! Eat fresh! Eat local! Eat for better health!

And save your eggshells throughout the week for the laying hens! :-)

In accordance with the current guidelines, we will not have more than 10 people in the lobby at any time. We have volunteers who can bring your order to your car if you prefer, just call or text 501-339-1039.

The market is now OPEN for orders. Click here to start shopping: *https://conway.locallygrown.net/market

Champaign, OH:  Blackberries!

Good morning, lovely customers!!

Before I head out to begin a day of catering, I wanted to let you know that Champaign Berry has put their blackberries on the market!!

I purchased some at the drive thru market, on Thursday, and wow!!! What a treat!!!

Also, they will be set up, once again, Thursday, at the Market Drive Thru with their cling peaches!!!

JUST AN FYI….the drive thru market is not part of the online ordering, but does feature vendors of the market. Sometimes their produce is too much for the market to handle at pick up, sometimes they will have an overage of product, and sometimes they just want to network, and meet the customers.

You do not have to be an ordering customer to come out and enjoy the drive thru market. It is a separate sales market. Or, if you are an ordering customer, but want, for example peaches, those are only available at the drive thru, so you will go through, get your products, and then proceed to get your online order. Or vice versa…my traffic plan did not happen, last week, so enter, either way…just don’t run into each other…lol.

Have a great Saturday!!

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
