Augusta Locally Grown:  THE ON-LINE MARKET IS OPEN AT AUGUSTA LOCALLY GROWN

FALL EVENTS!

TONIGHT
Join us this evening at 6pm for a conversation about food justice and getting involved as an “agrivist,” This marks the start of our “Farmer Friday” monthly series of local food conversations at Whole Foods in Augusta.

SAT, OCT 25 – CLEAN UP THE BRANCH WITH THE BENDERDINKER. With exactly six months left til Dinker time, there’s some cleaning up to do along Betty’s Branch to get it ready for April! Bring your kayak or small motor boat, pack up a cooler, find your work gloves and maybe a handsaw or clippers. We’ll make it a day on the water! Think tailgating, but better. Starts at 9am. Big love to Kristina of the BenderDinker and to Larry of Broadway Tackle for making it all happen. The BenderDinker helps support our educational programs at ALG year-round. Contact benderdinker@gmail.com to sign up for the clean up!

TUE, OCT 28 – PUMPKIN THIS AND SQUASH THAT. It’ll be a festive closing day at the Veggie Truck Farmers Market.

THU, OCT 30 – HEALTHY, SEASONAL TRICK OR TREATS, AND A WINTER SQUASH COOKING DEMO AT THE EVANS TOWNE FARMERS MARKET. The surprises never end with Chef Charleen at the helm. See what she’s cooking up at the market this month. Plus, bring the kids from booth to booth for the most wholesome trick or treats in town! This is the market’s closing day. Starts at 4:30pm.

SUN, NOV 2 – CROP MOB AT CLYDE’S FRESH PRODUCE FARM IN GROVETOWN. Bring your shovel and volunteer on this family farm where we’ll be planting dozens of fruit trees for an afternoon in Grovetown. Email kim@augustalocallygrown.org to sign up! Share a simple farm meal afterwards. Order you free meal ticket through ALG on-line!

SAT, NOV 8 – MEAD, CIDER AND CISER MAKING
Fermdamental’s Danielle Shelton will join us again, this time on a Saturday afternoon, November 8, to teach a mead, cider & ciser making workshop at the West End Market & Bakery in Augusta. The workshop will be demo style, given the multi-step nature of the processes. Participants will see many different stages of the mead, cider & ciser in its creation. Of course, sampling is all part of the fun. The educational & tasting component of the class costs $15. Start-up brewing equipment kits will also be available for an additional $50, upon request.

Spa City Local Farm Market Co-op:  From ABC Nature, Debe Hudson

Dear Co-opers -

Due to turning in my woody plant license, this will be the last time ABC Nature will be delivering hardy woody plants like tea plants, pawpaws, blueberry bushes, blackberry bushes and such because we are turning in our plant board license?

We will continue to provide herbs, spices and Tropical plants but we will not be able to provide woody plants for 2 reasons: 1. We are approaching retirement age and can’t seem to find the energy needed to continue to do all the plants we sell so we are turning in our plant board license. 2. We are trying to turn our farm into a sustainable organic farm and will hopefully be able to provide in the future grapes, kiwi fruit, and other items you can only buy in the stores. We will be selling to all the markets, so it will be first come, first serve: Blueberry bushes (1 gallon) $7.00 each Blackberry bushes (1 gallon) $7.00 each Pomegranate bushes (3 gallon) $25.00 each (1left) Goji berry vines (1 gallon) $10.00 And if you know we grow certain things and you don’t find them listed, please email me at abcnatur@gmail.com to inquire as to availability! We want to thank all that has helped our farm out during these trying times throughout the recession starting in 2007. But, we will still be around with the herbs, spices, citrus tre
