Joyful Noise Acres Farm:  The farm market is open for ordering.

Good morning to you!
This week was a happy food week for me. *Farm Fresh Foods *made a wonderful Spring Quinoa Asparagus Salad that we had for lunch and Strawberry Gallett with a cup of tea and a friend for an afternoon break. Our lives revolve around food and so do wonderful memories. This week begins the remembrance of Passover, Living Water and Daily Bread, how joyous a celebration symbolized with food. Our prayers are for you to be fed by and the Living Water and Daily Bread, Jesus.

We have some wonderful food offerings again this week, Four Mile Farm * beef, pork from *Joyful Noise Acres Farm and lamb from Four Mile Farm and Cedar Rock Dairy. We do have some bones in the freezer, Beef and pork shanks and lamb bones for your broth making. Just ask when you get here. The butter is running low with only a few unsalted left but more will be in in 2 weeks.

There is still room in the fermented beverages class for April 11, 10-12. Go to the Event tab on The Market to sign up. Come thirsty!

Blessings,
Mary Beth

Champaign, OH:  Biggest Part Of Me

Sunrise…
There’s a new sun arisin’…
(Ambrosia-Biggest Part Of Me)

Hello, 1980…hello, big hair, lipgloss overload, high school slow dances, spring time fun…

So, first of importance…this weather!! I am so loving the warmth, yesterday’s sunshine, the soul cleansing that each new spring day brings!!

Second…as the lyric talks about…Sunrise!! This time of year, it’s all about the sun rising, the change of season, the change in the way the breezes blow through…all promising a change, growth, a season that makes us happy!!

Third…Biggest Part Of Me…my heart and soul and dedication that I give to this little local market of love. From the customers to the vendors to my volunteers to the YMCA…much love, baby!!

Fourth…Marc and Shary Stadler for putting Ambrosia, the band, back on my music radar!!! Shary, of Valley View Woodlands, was dropping their orders off, today, and she was telling me that she and Marc were going to a multi-band concert…with Ambrosia. We always trade music show knowledge, song knowledge, our general love of music…so, of course, my brain immediately went into background music overload!!

So, with this market being the biggest part of me, the biggest part of all of us….let’s open it, tonight, for the week!!

I realize we are approaching Good Friday, holiday weekend, Easter…and, if you are Paul, of YMCA fame, opening season for the Reds…but, try to take a bit of time to get your orders in for market!!

The market is now open…feel free to turn up the volume on Ambrosia, get lost in the late 70s/early 80s, and order…

Peace and Love,
Cosmic Pam

ALFN Local Food Club:  Support ALFN Today And Your Gift Matched!

Nope, you haven’t forgotten what day of the week it is: This here is a special Thursday edition of the ALFN weblog to ask for your support during ArkansasGives.

Today is a statewide day of giving sponsored by the Arkansas Community Foundation, where any dollars donated to area non-profits through the ArkansasGives website between 8am-8pm will receive matching funds. This would be the perfect time to help us support small, sustainable, Arkansas farms through the Little Rock Local Food Club and Green Groceries Food Pantry. We’d be absolutely honored if you’d make your gifts here.

Old99Farm Market:  Old99 Farm Week of Mar 31 2015

As of March 31, we can offer 45 items including the following crops: celeriac, carrots, and green onions. There are lots of eggs. My flour mill is back in service so I can offer whole ground Red Fife Wheat flour.

Camelia is cooking prepared foods from our produce: garlic pesto, cucumber relish, quiches (on order).

Meats
I have sufficient ground beef, 5 lambs in the freezer, as well as veal. Folks are starting to ask about placing orders for roasting chickens for next summer. Yes you can, leave me a deposit of $11 a bird, minimum 5 birds.

Eggs
My regular price is $6/XL doz. I sell mixed size dozens that weigh at least 588 gm (medium), 672 grams, the ‘large’ size dozen, and Extra Large, 770gm plus carton. Please bring in recycled cartons.

Raw Honey
There remains about 10L of 2014 honey. Will have again in June. You bring your jar and fill it here, or buy in prefilled mason jars.

A 2013 quote from Wendell Berry, American agrarian, writer and activist, now in his 80s,“The ruling ideas of our present, very destructive national or international economy are: competition, consumption, globalism, corporate profitability, mechanical efficiency, technological progress, upward mobility—and in all of them there is the implication of acceptable violence against the land and the people. We, on the contrary, must think again of reverence, humility, affection, familiarity, neighborliness, cooperation, thrift, appropriateness, local loyalty. These terms return us to the best of our heritage. They bring us home.” {http://inthesetimes.com/rural-america/entry/17778/local-economies-to-save-the-land-and-the-people}

Says permaculture educator Albert Bates in his recent post to www.peaksurfer.blogspot.ca/
“We list our tool kit: biochar, ecovillage design, permaculture, holistic management, keyline water systems, native agroforestry, alley cropping cell divisions, constructed wetlands and chinampas, leaf protein extraction, bioenergy crops that first produce food, and productive, satisfying and fun things for people to be doing together.”

I see a connection between these two: do you?

Healthy Eating,
Ian and Camelia
