Stones River Market:  The Market is Back Open - Thanksgiving is Fast Approaching

The Market opens back up this morning and Thanksgiving is not too far away. I want to let everyone know the pick up schedule for the week of Thanksgiving.

Murfreesboro – It’s easy. Nothing changes. Wednesday will still be the pick up.

Nashville – There will be NO pick up on Thanksgiving day. So if you want to order anything for Thanksgiving, it will need to be done this week.

This is your last week to pre-order your turkey for Thanksgiving from West Wind Farms.

Here are some messages and specials from our farmers and producers.

Dogwood Valley Greenhouse is running two specials this week. Buy 2, Get 1 free on all trade gallon pots of Perennials, Ferns, & Herb Plants from Dogwood Valley Greenhouse. Most are out of bloom now, but are strong, healthy plants, which will develop good root systems before cold weather. They are eager to burst into bloom in your garden next spring. Order your 2 plants as usual on the market, and in the comments section indicate your first & second choices of an additional free plant. Please be specific if there are 2 or more varieties listed (astilbe, carnation, etc.). Also, purple Wandering Jew hanging baskets are HALF-PRICE while supplies last.

From Mike with Ridiculous Chocolate: “As it gets closer to colder weather, our hot chocolate makes a great treat. One free sample will be added to any orders of our chocolate containers.”

From Catherine with Flying S Farms: “Any of my sweet breads will make wonderful desserts. Our breads and jams make excellent house warming gifts. We have added some new soups, jams and biscuits in time for the holidays.”

Thank you for your orders last week.

John

Green Fork Farmers Market:  Weekly Product List

Dear Green Fork Farmers Market customers,

Exciting news! We are happy to announce a new vendor joining us this week—NWA Natural Produce. Vicky and Paul grow vegetables in Lincoln year-round outdoors and in hoop houses. You won’t believe what they have in store for us this week: tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers, brussels sprouts, green tomatoes, mustard greens, collards, and possibly green beans. These items won’t be available for preorder this week, but they will have them on their table, so please stop by and take a look on Wednesday from 4-7 pm in the Breezeway at Nightbird Books.

You will also find a terrific selection of other Green Fork Farmers Market products this week for preorder and for sale off the table at the market—vegetables, herbs, eggs, beef, pork, chicken, honey, baked goods, olives, plants, and herbal bath and beauty products.

Order now, and we’ll see you on Wedesday!

Upstate Locally Grown Greenville:  Local Turkey from Welch and Son

Hi, all. Just wanted to let everyone know that Welch and Son (Bill Welch brings you all that delicious pasture-raised chicken available on the market) has 4 pasture-raised Bourbon turkies available on the market. It is selling for 6.50/pound. I can tell you from experience that the Bourbon Red heritage breed of turkey is superior in flavor! It is nothing like the bland white turkey you are probably used to. This will be a treat for all in attendance at your Thanksgiving feast. You can pick up at the farm after the 13th or arrange for delivery to WF or Swamp Rabbit through myself.

The market will be open until Monday at 10am. Thanks for your continued support!

Suwanee Whole Life Co-op:  The Market will be CLOSED next weekend

Hi Everyone,

My husband’s uncle is very ill and is not expected to make it. We’ve decided to just assume that we will be making a trip to Virginia late next week. In light of this, the market will closed next weekend (11/16-11/18).

I wanted to give you all the opportunity to plan ahead and order additional meats, milk, eggs, etc. this weekend for the following week. You may place an additional order and the system will automatically add up your entire order total. The market will close at 5pm on Sunday.

We will still have Nature’s Garden Delivery produce boxes delivered to my house on Tuesday, Nov. 20th. If you are planning to be out of town please remember to put your box on vacation hold or call NGD to let them know.

I will still have pick up this Tuesday (Nov 13th) so there are NO changes this week.

In addition, a few of you have asked me when to expect the Wilderness Family Natural order to be available for pick up. Due to the size of our WFN order I’m expecting it to be in for the 11/27 pickup. I’ll know more after I place our group order this Monday. This is a pre-order and payment is expected at pick up this Tuesday.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,
Nora

When you pickup at Market, walk around to the back of the house and see the beautiful new garden!

Columbina, the newest addition at Rancho Alegre Farm is thriving! Look for her when you come to the Farm! She is a “cutie” and has already had a misadventure! She managed to sneak out of the property and spent one night “on the lam”! But not to worry, she was found very early the next morning, a little weary, but none the worse for wear! She now sticks pretty close to Momma and the other Ladies!

Thank you all for your support!
