Jeff and Karen Green of Udderly Cool Dairy began their journey into cheese making in the summer of 2010. Karen, a former social worker and Jeff, having designed, built and maintained dairies for over 15 years, bring in raw, fresh Berry College Dairy milk to their creamery in Roopville, Georgia where they process it into their own, unique, artisan (made by hand in small batches) cheeses. These award winning cheeses are sold to customers from their tiny shoppe in Roopville, Georgia, and distributed to Atlanta and surrounding areas. Their cheeses are served and used in dishes at fine restaurants in Atlanta and now are available through Heirloom Living Market! I am so excited to have Udderly Cool Dairy as a provider for our Market! Welcome aboard!

Stones River Market:  Time to Order Local Food - New Products and a Ginger Update

Stones River Market

How to contact us:
Our Website: stonesriver.locallygrown.net
On Facebook: www.facebook.com/StonesRiverMarket
On Wednesdays: Here’s a map.

Market News

The Market is back open this morning with plenty of locally grown and made products. Apple season will be ending soon but at this time Rainbow Hill Farm still has several varieties available. Get your supply before they are gone.

If you came to Market last week, Rod with Double Star Bar Farms brought samples of his focaccia and pain a l’ancienne. This week he has added an herb oil focaccia, a fruited focaccia (Wow, is this a great breakfast item!) and a “plain” focaccia (just olive oil and sea salt as a topping). He has also added an olive loaf (large and small). Finally, he has the mini baguettes (pain a l’ancienne) listed.

Rocky Glade Farm sends us this note:

… all of the ginger has been dug, so this truly is the last week for it and galangal. We are offering a larger 3 lb bulk pack for 20.00 which is quite a savings over the regular price. Ginger freezes well for use during cold and flu season or to freeze in quantities to add to smoothies or juicing.

Linda with Dogwood Valley Greenhouse sends this message:

Dogwood Valley Greenhouse is offering a fabric-lined basket filled with three herb plants of your choice, each in its own 4" pot. These pretty baskets will make great Thanksgiving decorations or hostess gifts. Order your basket for delivery now, or preorder for Thanksgiving delivery. Herbs included will be those commonly used in baking and cooking, a great addition to any kitchen. Specify your preference of herbs from this list: lemon balm; orange, pineapple, apple, chocolate, spearmint, or grapefruit mint; Greek or variegated oregano; silver-edged, English, common, variegated lemon, citrus, or lime thyme. Basket #1 is approximately 8-9" round with a handle, but may be different from the picture on the market. Pattern of fabric may vary, but will be fall/Thanksgiving themed.

From Sean with Nuance Coffee and Tea:

Nuance Coffee & Tea has adding several new teas to our offerings. We will be adding even more in the next two weeks. Look For the word NEW, in the description of the tea, to see what we have recently added for the Fall and Winter seasons. Also, due to customer demand, we have changed the size of all teas, from a 4 oz. bag, to a 2 oz. bag. This allows our customers to chose more than one tea, at a time, while still keeping our prices as low as possible. This is great if you want to give multiple teas, as gifts, or just try a variety of the different teas we offer. All prices have been leveled at $5.00 / 2 oz. pouch which is the best value that you will find anywhere. Thank you and, as always, “Enjoy”!

There are plenty of other products available this week. Browse the categories to see what your will find.

Thanks so much for your support of Stones River Market, all of our growers, local food, and our rights to eat it. We’ll see you on Wednesday at Southern Stained Glass at 310 West Main Street from 5:00 to 6: 30 pm!

Recipes

Please, share your recipes with us on the Recipes tab. We’d all love to know how you use your Stones River Market products, so we can try it too!

I am taking a break from recipes. Look for them to return soon.

I thank you for your interest and support of our efforts to bring you the healthiest, the freshest and the most delicious locally-produced foods possible!

Siloam Springs, AR:  Online Market is Open!

www.siloamsprings.locallygrown.net

Are you missing your favorite bakers? Did you know that you can still order your favorite items from The Bread Basket, Skopp Bakery and Susi’s Kitchen? Breads, pizza crusts, cookies, candies, granola, jams and jellies, cakes and pies can all be purchased through the online market. Don’t hesitate to contact them via email, which is located on under the Grower’s Tab on the website.

Only 7 days left for the Kickstarter Campaign for White River Creamery – check it out here: http://kck.st/1LSAfWM

Also, cheese is available at the online pick up each Saturday. There is a variety of Fetas, Chevre, Farmer’s Cheese, and Smoked Gouda. Ask me to show you what cheese we have, or place an order online to reserve your favorite!

We have been so blessed to have extra produce like tomatoes and okra, eggplant, and cherry tomatoes. The cold weather this weekend may mean the last of these products were available today. However, there should still be plenty of greens, herbs, peanuts, ginger, and winter squash.

Create 4 Good is back with wonderful, homemade laundry detergent, deodorant, lip balms, and more!

Don’t forget Pure Joy Ice Cream for your dessert. Best ice cream in town!

It’s time to begin thinking about your holiday meal plans – we will be open all month, including the Saturday following Thanksgiving so you won’t miss the option of ordering your groceries for the following week.

Thank you for supporting the farmers and vendors through the online market with your orders! Have a great week!

Market Work Day!

To eliminate the congestion of the one lane driveway in and out of Nicole’s Driveway, there is a second driveway that can be used. However, someone has recently dumped a couple of mattresses, roofing material and other trash which prohibits its use until we clean it up! It would take 6-10 people 2 – 4 hours to get it cleaned up! We are scheduling a Volunteer Workday to get this done on Saturday, November 14th from 10:30 – 2:30pm. Thank you to those who have already signed up! We need 4 more volunteers – strong! Please call Maryanne (404-432-4337)or sign up at Market to participate. We need your help! Please volunteer!

Also, I need a Volunteer to be at the top of the driveway this week to direct traffic. Coverage is needed from 2:30pm until 5:30pm. You can volunteer for the entire time or for the following times:
2:30 – 3:30pm
3:30 – 4:30pm
4:30 – 5:30pm
Call Maryanne at 404-432-4337 to Volunteer!

Please know that we appreciate the support of Nicole Park, Crossfit PURE and All Saints Lutheran Church for the use of the great spaces for Market. We are grateful for you and for your support of our dedicated, LOCAL Farmers/Growers and Artisans.

Spa City Local Farm Market Co-op:  The market is now open for ordering

Good Morning Everyone!!!
The Spa City Co-op market is now open for ordering at spacity.locallygrown.net. Please place your orders before Tuesday at 9 pm, and plan to pick up your orders at Emergent Arts on Friday November 13th from 3:30 – 5:30, the earlier the better.
Don’t forget – this market has no paid positions, so we NEED VOLUNTEERS to run every market. It’s fun, you get a $5 gift card, and you learn so much about local foods in Arkansas.

Independence,VA:  The Market is open for orders to be picked up November 13th

Friends of the Market,
It’s almost time for the annual Green Friday Christmas tree fundraiser and winter market on November 27th and again December 5th. We’ll be taking pesticide free Christmas tree and wreath orders soon!
Exciting news, we are hiring a part-time Market coordinator. You can view the job description on the Webpage and our Facebook page. Please help spread the word and/or consider doing it yourself.
Isn’t it great to have all the produce on the Market! Just a reminder, the Market closes to orders at 7pm Wednesday evening. If you have questions, feel free to email me at independencefarmersmarket.org or call 276-768-0597. Pickup is Fridays from 10-noon in the conference room (across from the gift shop)in the 1908 Courthouse. Please bring cash or checks. You’ll still be dealing with each individual vendor.
Happy shopping! Here are the links:http://independencefarmersmarket.locallygrown.net/market/
you can also get there from the webpage, www.independencefarmersmarket.org
Thanks and hope to see you Friday!
